We learnt simpler things like tone sets. Like when there is a lot of blues and greens and other cool colors, it give a more calm and in control feeling, and can also feel melancholy. Same goes for warm colors, such as red, orange and yellow. Warm colors give you the feeling of passion, energy, anger and/or love.
Then we learnt about the different types of film cinematographers used to film their movies. Since I took film in year 7, this was a surprise as i hadn't thought before that there were different types of films as I only thought there the types were digital and film.
One category is fast and slow films. Slow films are for movie that need a LOT of detail, such as action movies. But fast films are used for things like documentaries and war films, which have a slightly grainy look and make it look more realistic.
The other category is the film gauge. The common film gauges are 16, 35 and 70 mm, 35 mm being the most commonly used presently, but there are other film gauge sizes. 35mm would look slightly more defined than you'd see in real life and gets more and more defined the larger the film gauge, but 16 mm and the lower the film gauge, the more grainy and gritty the film looks. The film gauge is important in a film as it can effect the feel of a movie. Also a reason cinematographers use 16mm film and enlarge it is because it is cheaper and can suit their filming budget better.
Good recap of the class notes but make sure you are ANALYSING your own understanding, not just describing.
