From these clips taken from the movie Rush Hour, we can identify the genre of the movie, which is action (comedy). For starters, on a more basic level, you have the actions and tone of voice in the movie. In the scenes you can see a lot of fighting (action) scenes and and tense tones, making it quite obvious that it an action movie. Plus the comedic moment now and then turn it into an action comedy.
Next, looking at the background music in these clips, you can see they are fast-paced and are suspenseful. The fact that the suspense music is fast paced, makes it different from the type of suspense music you get in horror films, and the liveliness of the music make you think of movement, in other words action.
Finally we can look at the setting and mise en scene of most of the scenes. Most of the scenes here are dark settings with dim, yellowish lighting. Also in most of these scenes, there's a lot of fog. These things also give of a suspenseful and dangerous feeling, as well as also mysterious. It almost has a film noir effect, though the it is not black and white, but just dark.
Also if you look at the clothes that they wear in the scenes, you can see that they always wear dark colored clothing. The dark colors of the clothing, like the rest of the mise en scene, give of a mysterious and dangerous feeling.
I like your thoughts on the mise en scene. Keep looking closely when you watch films in the future.
